A Message from our Rector

Fr. Stephen C. Casey

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the web site of St. Edward's Episcopal church, the "city" church in the heart of the country.  St. Edward's, part of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, is a growing community of faith, serving Christ in the church, in the wider community, and in the world.

Founded in September 1981, to meet the growing needs of Lancaster County, the creation of St. Edward's stemmed from an initiative of the three other Episcopal parishes in the city of Lancaster.  For the first few years, the new congregation met in a union hall.  But it was not long before land was purchased on Harrisburg Pike, and the church of St. Edward's was built.  Thanks be to God, St. Edward's has continued to grow in grace, in service, and in numbers.

You will find here information on the various kinds of ministries and activities which go to make up the life of St. Edward's.  I hope this information will give you a taste of how, through worship, through Christian education and social outreach, through pastoral care and many other ministries, the people of St. Edward's seek to serve God in Christ in tangible and meaningful ways, and to live out our baptismal covenant, serving Christ in others, as Christ serves us.  It is in these, and many other ways, that the people of St. Edward's look to God to continue to grow in grace and service.

Whether you are merely curious, or a visitor traveling through the area, or you are seeking a more permanent relationship with God in Christ in a community of faithful people, I encourage you to join us.  Whatever your reasons for visiting, you will be assured of a warm welcome.

Sincerely,

Stephen+
