Refugee children in Central Pennsylvania are in need of new or gently used backpacks, including items such as pencils and pens, and also school lunch boxes. The diocesan Refugee Resource Group is working once again with Catholic Charities to provide these items, especially for newly arrived refugee children, but also for those in continuing need. We are asking that you as a parish, group or individual donate one or more of these items, which are particularly needed at the beginning of the school year.
A list of such items can be found here. We will be collecting these items through October. You may drop them off at Catholic Charities or call Carolyn Patterson at 717-236-5959 or email@example.com to have them picked up. A third alternative will be to bring them to the Refugee Resource Group table at Diocesan Convention in October. Helping refugee children is one way we can welcome and support refugees as our new neighbors. For questions or more information about the Refugee Resource Group, please contact The Rev. Beth Mollard at 717-808-6607 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
